You just sit in silence and it felt very good, I felt like whatever I have been doing all this time, speaking so much, then but I said, after that week I said, okay now ask. And in that outer silence, I realized that people had gone so much into their mind, you see, because the silence is not the absence of outer words, it has to be that inner stillness. So when Bhagawan was talking about the silence, He was talking about the same doorway of the Heart Temple. Because only that is higher than the highest teaching which can be put in words. Atma Jnana cannot be put in words. What we receive in that silent transmission from the Atma within, that is higher than the highest teaching in words. So there is often value to an external silence. But to even extract that value from that external silence, we need to have a certain level of letting go of the mind, otherwise we will shut our mouth but we will fully be occupied in the mental narrative. So silence is the absence of egoic belief, conceptually empty, can you remain conceptually empty even while your mouth is speaking? That is a higher silence than the mouth being quiet.
