Where Will You Go for That Answer
The question Where Will You Go for That Answer points to the realization that no external pursuit can provide the truth we seek—it is only found within.
What is happening now? Where will you go for that answer? Who are you? Where will you go for that answer? This is fundamental because are doing the inquiry wrong. They feel like if they ask ‘Who am I?’ oeen enough, a perfect answer will come up in their heads and then that will be It. Or some great perception will come, they will see a shining luminous Self and that will be It. But every perception comes and goes, then how can the Self come? It will not come as the result of your inquiry, you will only unburden yourself from the dust in your eyes and you will see clearly what always is. We cannot even say ‘always is’ It is beyond time. So Satsang’s only job is to clean up, it is not to create something. In a Hny space in you in which all the doubts will come, will say ‘but, but what about this?’ and this leaking roof will never be repaired. This leaky roof of the intellect will never be repaired because it is trying to contain God. But Krishna has said clearly ‘subtler than intellect is the Truth’ and yet we looking there. Subtler than the world, subtler than the body, subtler than our mind, subtler than the intellect, what is subtler than the intellect? It cannot be captured in the intellect. But if you ask most spiritual seekers they are trying to understand the Truth, understand something. You can never understand and if you understood It you would not want it because It would be so small [Smile]… a product of our understanding. So then is it hopeless? Is it pointless? You can’t understand It, you can’t see It. For most that can seem like bad news because then like ‘What’s the point?’ But I have some good news also and that good news is that ‘You already know your Self without having to think or perceive.’ And you can check that right now. What is it that you know independent of thought or perception? When you remain independent of thoughts and perceptions, that means that you are not so concerned about what is showing up in the phenomenal level - have you gone… you went? No. tiow do you know that? It is as simple as that. This is Self-realization. Can you imagine? [Smiles] You are climbing so many trees to realize the Self, but you already know your Self. But you don’t know it here [Gestures of hands pointing head] and you can’t know it here. Of course, the ‘mind’ will shout ‘but, but, but…’ And what is it shouting about? tiow does that help ‘me’? There is no contract like that ‘the Truth should help the false.’ [Smile] There is no deal like that. So it’s only our spiritual selfishness that trips us up. How would it change ‘my’ life? But you just saw that you are not this body-mind. Whose life are you talking about?
