What Is No Movement?

The only true Reality is timeless and changeless—time, movement, and change are mental constructs, and Self-recognition reveals that all appearance is just consciousness playing with ideas that have no inherent reality.

But what is no-movement doing?

Ananta

What is no movement doing? So just as you come to the recognisation of what you are you start to see that the notion of time is just in-notional. That is there is no such thing as time. So movement implies time present position, future position or past position that means what movement is. But what is giving you that notion of linearity is this idea of memory or image- making. But you never met an image in the past. You only met it; you never even met it in the future. Anyway so to make it simpler as you are coming to this insight about what you are you will see that what you are is the only Reality and this Realty does not have any such time or movement or change. What is time, movement, and change? All of these in a way synonyms just the idea of something versus something versus something. So as you come to this Self-recognisation…you will see that… this appearance has no Reality. That is why we call appearance. So appearance has no Reality. So, in Reality, there is no time and if there is no time then there is no movement, no doing. All of that is just constructs that we take to be real within this play of consciousness.

Key Teachings

  • Time, movement, and change are mental constructs with no actual reality—what we are is the only Reality that is timeless and unchanging
  • Self-recognition reveals that appearance has no inherent Reality; all phenomena are just constructs within the play of consciousness
  • The notion of linearity comes from memory and image-making, but we never actually encounter these images in past or future—only in the present mental construct
