What Do You Already Have?
Ananta points to the already-present nature of awareness, suggesting that what we seek is already here and cannot be attained through seeking.
We go off on this search looking for the Self. But the search is based on the presumption that I do not have it or I am not it or I have to find it. So, we go looking for the Self-knowledge or for the recognition of this Self-knowledge, in the presumption that it is not here. But, do we really know, are you certain that you don’t have it already. And what gives us this certainty? On what basis do we make this conclusion? Do you know that you do not have Self-knowledge? And the irony of it is what? What are we looking for? That which does not come and go. [Smiles] Then how will it come to you? [Smiles] So what is it? It does not come and go, but I must go to It. [Smiles] What is the rationalization? It’s all absurd. You are struck in this absurdity. The only way to check (in a way) or to come out or step out of this absurdity is to see what actually just Is. Who am I? Otherwise we are running, running, running, to get exactly where we are now. [Smiles] In our running, we can’t find it. In a way it is, of course, present in the running also. But, in our attempt to get it, you are missing what is on that side of ‘the trying to get’, what is already there. So, what is it that you already have? Let’s conclude on that before we can decide on what else you want. [Silence] What do you already have? I am not asking you rhetorically. [Smiles] What do you have? Even if you say that ‘I have nothing.’ You have the ‘I’ that has nothing. This you cannot loose. So… just this ‘now’. What do you have in this? Just in this ‘now’, what do you have? We want the Self we want to recognize the Self; we want Self-knowledge all these things. Reality, Truth, Liberation, Freedom. So before, you can decide on what you want, you must see what you already have. So, just in this right now…is what we are looking for, there or not there? Reality, Truth, Freedom, Self, God.
