There Is No Deal That the Truth Must Help the False

The truth does not make deals with the false - it exists independently and nothing the false does can touch it.

Simple Advice Don’t expect any worldly outcome from Satsang. Don’t expect any worldly outcome from Satsang. Not even what you are feeling because even that is a worldly outcome. Now if it seems impossible to drop all expectations of worldly outcome then keep expectations of worldly outcomes to things or activities on the world, in the world. But in your spiritual life, in what you are hearing is Satsang; don’t expect that to lead to anything worldly. No perks, no benefits, not even peace. Don’t expect anything out of this. Because it is [inaudible] makes it confused. It makes that which is most obvious, seem most obscure. [Silence] Krishna said very clearly that the way to come to an end of this cycle of birth and death, the cycle of suffering, is to come to true Self-knowledge. But the only precondition to that true Self- knowledge is, we must let go of our attachments to actions and their fruits, actions and their outcomes and we must apply that to our spiritual endeavour especially. So if you feel like coming to Satsang is an action and therefore you have an attachment to that action and it’s fruits that you expect to find something as a result of that, then that precondition is not met. So if you cannot apply [this] to your entire life at least apply it to Satsang. Come to Satsang as if you are a child going to play… you are not expecting to build your muscles, you are not expecting to get a return gift [Smile] - nothing at all. You are not expecting to… in your playing you are not saying ‘Oh, can I keep this fun that I am having for when I am doing homework also.’ You are just enjoying moment to moment whatever is showing up. You are not burdening yourself with past and future, with action and inaction, with cause and effect, none of this. In the playground no child is saying ‘Am I having fun, am I having fun, am I having… Is this working yet, am I there yet?’ None of that. You are not trying to hold on to something. You are fully fresh, fully open. [Meditative Silence] And this freshness, in this openness ‘what you are’ is completely clear to you, completely clear in the true place and ‘what is the true place’ is also completely clear. But the minute you try to intellectualize any of this or conceptualize any of this, it seems to be… it’s no longer play now.

Key Teachings

  • Truth stands alone and does not depend on the false for its validity or existence
  • The false (appearances, concepts, ego) cannot actually affect or diminish what is real
  • Awareness/realization requires no negotiation with illusion - it simply is what it is
