Our Quest for Freedom
True freedom is not something to be attained but something to be recognized—we are already that which we seek.
Is it possible to find freedom in the noise of the traffic and the heat of this room? [Sound of helicopter flying] Helicopters flying. [Smiles] You just need two things to come to freedom. Only two things are needed. The first is we have to give up our attachment to being right. The first is we have to give up our attachment to being right. Got it? Only two things are needed. The first is don’t be attached to being right. Our quest for freedom is just like this, actually. When you approach it with the lens of limitation, with the notion, already pre-conceived, that I am something limited, then no answer can satisfy that. And once this is let go of, then the simplicity of your notionless Existence, which is empty of right and wrong, freedom and bondage, getting it and losing it — all these do not belong to your Reality, they only belong to what you think you are. And you can never become that small to ever truly be that which you think you are. No matter what the thought is. So, your lowest thought and your highest thought — neither of them truly represent ‘You’. Then what to do? Are we lost? [Silence] What if the ‘mind’ has got the idea of lost-and-found and also upside-down? [Silence] The mind has many offers for you. Many things it will offer to you that will give you a lot of spiritual fantasies also. Because its version of this That Is, this Is-ness, is so unbearable that many spiritual seekers then use the imaginative aspect of the mind, the fantasy aspect of the mind and to escape this - which only in its interpretation can seem just very boring or standard - to try and get to some fantasy reality, all part of the appearance still.
