Gnan Yoga is the direct knowledge of the Self that transcends even the highest intellectual conviction, pointing to pure awareness beyond the mind.

So many are misunderstanding spirituality, especially Jnana-yoga [is one of the several spiritual paths in Hinduism that emphasizes the ‘path of knowledge’] thinking that we have to come to some sort of strong belief that ‘I am the Self.’ Even conviction - we hear this term oeen, I have to come to a conviction that ‘I am the Self’ and then I am Free. So this is not conviction. It is not the conviction, in the way that you are not convinced that ‘You are sitting right now.’ Are you convinced you are sitting right now? No, it’s clearer than that. It’s not a very strong belief [like] ‘I am convinced.’ So many are just trying to convince themselves ‘I am Brahman, I am the Self.’ But if you see it with that seeing which is beyond sight, if you see it, if you recognize yourself as the Self, then you don’t have to convince yourself. And in fact, you will see that anything that we might think about it, is too limited compared to it. That’s why I keep imploring everyone every day [Smile] ‘Don’t rely on your thoughts are saying. What do you know without having to think?’ You don’t even have to make the effort of thinking to know the Self. And then that thought will come, ‘But, I can’t stop thinking, I have to stop thinking first.’ So thinking is not the arising of thought. When I say ‘thinking’ I am not speaking of the arising of thought, but just by taking it to be real. And yet we can keep…it seems hearing this and keep thinking about it, thinking that we are making progress. [Smile] Till some grace, Hll some divine intervention (in a way) happens and we see that actually, it is not about gathering up, it is not about gathering up in our heads. It’s just a simpler way, a simpler looking. That simple that even we can’t call it ‘a way’. So simple and a part of us hates that. You have been at this for a long time no, some of us have been at this for a long time. So why will we enjoy hearing it so simple? [Smile] You wasted so much time, energy, handwork, reading books, listening to so many Masters, so many hours of Satsang and yet we have to get over this. We have to get over this need for return on investment. [Sangha Smile] and just simply check, not even check. Just be empty of all complications and that’s it. If you start thinking about it [you] get into the thinker pose [and] it cannot be gathered there. Because the thought will only confuse you. It will say ‘How can I make it simple? That’s my struggle. I can’t be just natural.’ So don’t get involved in that story let that continue. The thought can’t force you to dance with it. It can just dance. It doesn’t have any power to pull you in, unless you as consciousness take it to be real or represent reality in some way and this is the seeming addiction that consciousness itself seems to have gotten into and now is using this strange thing called ‘Satsang’ to rid itself of it.
