Conditioning Is All These Conditions

2019-12-02|14:27-27:19|Watch on YouTube

Conditioning is the whole setup of body-mind identification; the direct path is to look at the sense of 'I am' itself, distinguishing existence from its content, to reveal the free witness awareness.

Whatever you say aeer ‘but’ is just a story. Whatever conditions, in India, we use term vasanas, (and then) what is the translation - conditioning, and once you make it like conditioning it feels like ‘Okay, it is just my, greed, my lust’ or something like that. But conditioning is all these conditions. [Smile] What condition you are putting on yourself is your conditioning. What condition you are putting on this moment is your conditioning. That is why I was been reluctance and maybe to an extent of big boredom for all of you: relentlessly been asking ‘what is the standard that Truth has to meet? And who decided the standard? The Sages have been telling us the ‘Truth is this that which Is - Is-ness’. So where does this ‘but’ come from? What gives these ‘buts’, these doubts, this credibility? So, our attachment to these conditions is our conditioning. [Silence] What is your expectation from this moment? [Silence] If we have no conditions for how this moment has to play out, we are free. [Smile] Life is free because the life does not have to confirm to your mind, your expectation. It never did any way.

Key Teachings

  • Conditioning is not just thoughts but the entire body-mind organism identification with name, form, and roles
  • The sense of 'I am' (existence) is distinct from the content of 'I am' (the story, history, conditioning) - one can be pointed to while the other falls away
  • The path is not to fight conditioning but to see through it by looking at the 'I am' - the sense of being itself, which reveals the witness awareness
