उपहत के आँगन मध्य अष्ट कनकभवन रमन गौर श्याम जोरी। जैसे घन कारो दमकति दामिनि अंग उपमेय छै हुलसि हिये गोरी॥ चहुँदिशि अलिन के कुंज मनोहर लसति सप्त खंड अटा आई एक ठोरी। सेवा सावधान प्रान जानकीवल्लभ नवलकिशोर प्यारी नवलकिशोरी॥ कोउ जंत्र बीना ले परवीन तानपूर कला पावस मलार टेरि मृदंग टकोरी। तान तरंग मगन सुख सिंधु माहि युगलप्रिया मति गति भई भोरी॥

In the courtyard's centre, within the eight-sided golden palace, the fair and dark Pair delights. She flashes like lightning in a black cloud, her heart surging. The companions' lovely bowers shine on every side, and the seven-storeyed mansion gathers them in one place. Alert in service are Janaki's youthful Beloved and his ever-young Lady. One takes the vina, another the tanpura; Malara of the rains is called and the mridanga struck. Absorbed in waves of melody within an ocean of joy, Yugalapriya's mind loses its ordinary course.
