खेलत बसंत रसिकाधिराज। रघुनन्दन सिय संग अलिसमाज॥ नव अंग अंग बर बसन साज। बाजे मृदंग अरु विविध बाज॥ तहँ अलिगन गाव सरस राग। रागी जन मन अनुराग जाग॥ कहे चन्द्रकला सुनिये जू लाल। प्रमोदबन फूल्यौ द्रुम रसाल॥ सजि गावत चलिये बसंत राग। मनमोहन दोऊ मिलि एक संग॥ आये जहाँ बन मध्य धाम। आयत विशाल सुखमा ललाम॥ तोद मध्य कुंज बैठे जू आय। तब चन्द्रकला बीना बजाय॥ नाचन लागी अलि विविधि भाव। गावहिं बसंत अति सरस चाव॥ ऋतुराज सहचरी बेष कीन्ह। मेवा भरि थारन साज दीन्ह॥ फूलन सिंगार किये अपने हाथ। निरखत छवि होय रहे अति सनाथ॥ तब युगलप्रिया रुचि समय पाय। झोरी गुलाल होरी मनाय॥
Fresh English translation
The sovereign of rasikas celebrates spring—Raghunandana with Siya amid the companions. Every limb wears fresh, lovely dress; mridanga and many instruments sound, and their sweet ragas awaken love in receptive hearts. Chandrakala calls, 'Beloved, hear: the mango trees of Pramodavana have flowered. Come singing Raga Vasanta.' The enchanting Pair reaches the broad, beautiful abode in the forest and sits in its central bower. Chandrakala plays the vina; companions dance in many moods and sing spring with joy. One assumes the dress of Spring-King, offers trays of delicacies and adorns the Pair with flowers by her own hands. Fulfilled by their beauty, Yugalapriya finds the chosen moment and pours out gulal to celebrate Holi.
