रंगीला बना आया नी दिलदार देखो अलियाँ। अवध को छैला बना बनी जनकजू की ललियाँ॥ चलोनी सदके जादी मिथिला की कुंज गलियाँ। मिथिला शहर में शोर पड़ी निमि कुलादि चलियाँ॥ सुषमा सरों में फूली मानो खिली कंज कलियाँ॥ अरी जो मिली खिली बनी के रंग रलियाँ॥ घोड़े पर बना लखी छकी युगलप्रिया पलियाँ॥

Companions, see—the colourful, generous bridegroom has come! Ayodhya's handsome youth is the bridegroom and Janaka's darling the bride. Let us be offered to the magic of Mithila's bower-lanes. A clamour rises through the city as the women of Nimi's lineage go forth. Beauty blooms in their faces like opening lotus buds; whoever meets the bride shares her colourful delight. Seeing the bridegroom on horseback, Yugalapriya stands transfixed.
