Will you ever regard me as your own? Rama, benefactor of the poor and jewel among kings, will you bring the honor of your renowned vow into your heart? (1) You are an ocean of gracious conduct, beautiful, capable of all, powerful, and a mine of virtues. Lord, you have protected, are protecting, and will protect; will you recognize this surrendered one’s love? (2) The Vedas and Purāṇas declare, and the world knows, that you are merciful to the poor and give day after day. I am compelled to say—bless me!—that for my turn you seem to have forgotten your way. (3) Though you are the benefactor of the distressed, the poor, and the orphaned, are you heeding worldly censure? Whatever happens, Tulsi’s final result will be good, for you are the destroyer of the surrendered one’s fear. (4)
