Fresh English translation
[21] Abandoning the many games of gain and loss and the water of difficult desire, I shall let the heart surge, sing the virtues, and offer up the body. [22] As tales of lands and ages delight the heart, so shall I hear the fresh sun-like virtues raining in the forest and dispersing darkness. [23] Disregarding sleep and its companions, and knowing human attachment to be hell, when shall I contemplate the gracious, lovely power of those virtues, mines of happiness? [24] Just as one burning with fever has no taste for something sweet, so the heart devoid of the seed of virtues will grow disgusted with abundant worldly glory. [25] When shall my mind rejoice and surge in the company of rasikas who taste the virtues, abode of supreme bliss-rasa, abandoning the shadow of worldly speech? [26] I shall leave the cloud's abode and sing the divine, splendid, ever-new virtues of the Dark One, ocean of the bodily joy and beauty of Śrī Sītā Svāminī. [27] When will that blessed day come, O Śrī Sītā-Rāma, when discussion of the world's village of sorrows seems equal to deadly poison? [28] Until one contemplates the swan-like virtues in the lake of Sītā's beauty, the head must bear a bitter cluster of ceaseless grief. [29] Hearing Śrī Sadguru's fine fame and auspicious true doctrine—listening to the virtues of Sītā's Beloved—one becomes a vessel of happiness. [30] I shall contemplate in my heart, with oceanic boundlessness, the virtues of the Life of the Beloved, foundation of the lives of Śiva, Viṣṇu, Brahmā, the chief gods, sages, and all beings. [31] Whenever harsh karma compels me to assume a body in worldly existence, O Sītā-Rāma, then give me the shade of the tree of your virtues.
