Fresh English translation

[54] Their tongue is filled with love and is the dwelling of vast learning and glory; beholding it and hearing the Beloved's nectar-speech, I shall gain a treasury of joy. [55] Lute notes sound broken and even the cloud-adorned cuckoo's call is harsh beside the Young Couple's sweet voice, a lovely garden and beautiful thief of the heart. [56] O mind, until you have wandered through the garden of their pleasure-grove play, all your countless opinions, whether spoken or heard, remain steeped in poison. [57] Their supremely beautiful speech is radiant, most lovely and enchanting, milking the mind, generous in secret meaning, and granting the fruit of every fruit. [58] Stones melt on hearing words joined with a gentle smile; when, in great good fortune, shall I hear them and forget worldly and scriptural talk? [59] Hearing the Moon-Lord's relishable speech—cool, radiant, and charming—dispels the heart's dark age-long anguish and distorted imaginings. [60] The nose, treasure of new affection, bears its pearl and lovely ring; gracefully bending and swaying to touch the lip, it steals the heart away. [61] When shall I gaze, my restless heart made mad, as the lovely Beloved Pair's clear nose-rings and ornaments touch one another? [62] My eyes shall grow desirous as they see the newly incomparable pearl of the nose-ring entangled in sweet beauty, and ardour mounts each moment. [63] When will those eyes—churners of Love's pride, givers of pure grace, and twin streams of radiance—look toward me with nectar-like affection? [64] Seeing those lovely eyes, darkened with collyrium and coloured black, white, and red, skilful in distributing hosts of joys, may I become beautiful too.
