English Translation

Now let this inner agitation be cooled. Place your faith at God's feet and see what He will do. He alone is the giver of sustenance; no one else holds authority. Says Tuka, I am confident that He will never forsake His servant.

In Plain Words

Now let this burning restlessness be cooled. Place your trust at his feet, and watch what God will do. He alone is the one who gives food; no one else holds the power. Tuka says: he will not neglect his servant. Of this I am sure.

What it means

Tukaram speaks to his own agitated heart and tells it to grow quiet. The cure for the inner fever is not more striving but surrender: lay your trust at God's feet and then simply watch what he does. Behind this is a single conviction, that God alone is the giver of sustenance and no other power rules over a life. From that he draws his confidence: the Lord does not abandon those who are his. The poem moves from restlessness to rest by handing the outcome entirely to God.
