English Translation
Eat your food happily and contemplate Him. What is given by Him returns to Him, and the fruit comes naturally to you. This is the basis of all support; His very name is Vishvambhara, the Sustainer of all. Says Tuka, there is no empty place in existence; simply spread the cloth of faith.
We ask forgiveness for any inaccuracies in rendering Tukaram ji’s original Marathi.
In Plain Words
Eat your food happily, and think of him. What he gives reaches back to him, and the fruit comes to you on its own. This is the one support. His name is Vishvambhara, who carries the world. Tuka says: no place is empty of him; just spread out your faith.
What it means
Tukaram offers a quiet trust that asks for no strain. Eat in peace and remember God while you do, because everything given comes from him and returns to him, and your own share arrives without your grasping for it. The ground of this ease is who God is: Vishvambhara, the one who sustains and carries the whole world. Since no place in existence is empty of him, the only thing asked of you is to open out your faith, like spreading a cloth to receive what is already being given.
Faith and Trust
The boldness of faith, steadfastness, and the security of trusting in God.
