English Translation
Says Tuka, how long can such filth endure? There is only impatience and restlessness within.
We ask forgiveness for any inaccuracies in rendering Tukaram ji’s original Marathi.
In Plain Words
Tuka says: how long can such filth endure? Inside there is only impatience and restlessness.
What it means
This is Tukaram's closing stroke on the false and corrupt he has been describing. He asks how long such filth can possibly hold up, the answer being that it cannot. Beneath the pretender's surface there is no peace, only impatience and restlessness churning within. The point is that corruption carries its own undoing: what is hollow inside cannot stand for long.
Social Criticism
Rebuke of hypocrisy, caste pride, false teachers, greed, and religious pretence.
