English Translation

True wealth takes care of itself. Calling upon You, O Panduranga, brings real sweetness, a genuine treasure. The proof of a good meal shows itself in the belch that follows. Says Tuka, where there is true satisfaction, where does any longing remain?.

We ask forgiveness for any inaccuracies in rendering Tukaram ji’s original Marathi.

In Plain Words

Real wealth looks after itself. Calling on you, Panduranga, brings true sweetness, a real treasure. The truth of a good meal shows in the belch that comes after. Tuka says: where there is full satisfaction, what room is left for any aching want?

What it means

Tukaram speaks from experience, not request: he has tasted what calling on God actually yields. He calls it true wealth, the kind that does not need guarding because it keeps itself, unlike money. His earthy proof is the belch after a full meal: you know the meal was real by the satisfaction it leaves, and so you know the Name is real by the contentment it leaves in the heart. The closing question is the whole point; once that fullness is there, there is simply no space left for longing and lack.
