I bow to Sri Sarayu and Avadh; to Sita, Raghubara, and Hanuman; to the feet of Bharata, Lakshmana, and Shatrughna; to Sri Guru, the bow and arrow, and the saints. Rasramamani has composed the exquisitely sweet Makaranda commentary. May it benefit all who speak and hear it. Victory to Sri Sita-Rama.

In Vikrama Samvat nineteen hundred and fifty-five, in the bright half of Madhava month, on Friday, Janaki Navami, [1] Rasramamani, servant taking refuge in Sita-Rama, composed the commentary on the Sarayu's bank in the pure abode Avadh. [2] He bows to Agra Swami's feet and sings this work; within his heart is meditation on Sita and Raghubara and love for their names. [3]

Kavitta

The youthful Couple, fair and dark, steeped through and through in love, remain clasped, graceful arms around each other's lovely necks. Filled with the excitement of play and intoxicated by each other's beauty, they steal delight and shine, eager for the divine sport. Their restless eyes move; absorbed in pleasure, dyed in the colors of rasa, their bodies gaze upon one another with love. Sita and Raghunandana, roots of bliss, a pair of moons, may they remain forever risen in the sky of my heart.

Thus is completed the Makaranda Madhuri commentary on Sri Sita-Rama Dhyana Manjari, composed by Sri Sita-Rama-Sharan Rasramamani, disciple of Sri Kamadendramani, friend of Sri Raghavendra in the Ramanandi lineage.
