Viśveśvaradatta Miśra, whose ascetic name was Deva Tīrtha Svāmin and who was known as Kāṣṭhajihvā, composed this compact commentary on the Sāṃkhya-sūtra. This page publishes every presently usable text: one attributed passage, freshly translated below. It is not a complete edition.

कस्मात् सांख्य इति उच्यते। सम्यक् क्रमपूर्वकं ध्येयानां कथनं यस्यां सा सांख्या क्रमपूर्वा विचारणा। यत् तामधिकृत्य कृतं तस्मात् सांख्य इति उच्यते शास्त्रम्।

Why is it called Sāṃkhya? Sāṃkhyā is orderly reflection: that in which the matters to be contemplated are set forth properly and in sequence. Since this treatise was composed with reference to that, the teaching is called Sāṃkhya.
Textual note
The Devanāgarī above was compared directly with PDF page 9 / printed page 3 of T. G. Mainkar's 1972 second revised and enlarged edition of The Sāṃkhya-Kārikā of Īśvarakṛṣṇa with the Commentary of Gauḍapāda. The printed source explicitly introduces the passage as Deva Tīrtha Svāmin's observation in Sāṃkhya-taraṅga. It is a secondary quotation, not inspection of the six-leaf manuscript.

The Chapter Eight contents read सांख्यतरंग; the additional-works sentence reads सांख्य तरंग. Hall independently names Viśveśvaradatta Miśra / Deva Tīrtha Svāmin and identifies the work as a compact exposition of the Sāṃkhya-sūtra.
