Chapter 1 · Verse 123

जगतः पालने शक्तिर्लक्ष्मीरूपा भवत्युत । संहारे समनुप्राप्ते तामसी शक्तिरुत्तमा ॥ १२३ ॥

For preservation of the world she becomes power in the form of Lakṣmī; when dissolution arrives, she is the supreme tamasic power.
