Fresh English translation

[The Chāyā Naṭa song continues:] ‘—this rasa-play is yours; hope of it remains forever in my heart. (1) Your face brings nectar, hearing you brings joy; the knowing eyes recognize that image. Kṛpānivāsa says: wise Jānakī smiled, and rasa rained down.’ (2) Kānhṛā khyāl, mūlatāla: ‘Smile and speak, beloved Sīyā—what good nature is there in sulking? I have come to cling to your feet, darling; show me one little happiness. Kṛpānivāsa offers himself: grant your favor and meet eye with eye.’ (28) ‘My gaze is fixed upon your beloved beauty; love-intoxicated, my understanding is yours. Today the lovely princess shines, her eyes darkened with collyrium. Kṛpānivāsa says: Sīyā, smile and look this way—I offer myself to you.’ (29) Soraṭha, mūlatāla: ‘Beloved Sīyā, life of my life, I am a sacrifice laid upon you. Beautiful in form, consider my love: this is no time for sulking—’ [the song continues on the next page].
