Fresh English translation

[The Bihāga song continues:] ‘—to coax?’ (2) ‘The discerning lady does not consent; cleverness has run aground before the gravity of her māna. I said much, but not one thing was accepted; instead, all my own wisdom deserted me. (1) Anxiety only increased, yet the message remains in my hand. Friend recognizes friend when they meet. Kṛpānivāsa says: come—I offer myself to you. Why not understand the inclination of the beloved of your life?’ Rāga Aḍānā, four tālas: ‘Graceful, discerning lover, let your eyes at last bear fruit—look upon beloved Jānakī. Modestly she hides herself; Love has struck, and the body falls restless, life and desire known through the slightest gesture. The quickness of the eyes flashes behind the eyelids, among the tresses as though within a lattice. Victory to this image of Nivāsa's grace, with its flashing semblance of māna.’
