राग जंगला ॥ मिलिबैठे दोउ प्यारे रासमें ॥ सुंदरस्याम कमल दल लोचन रसिक रूपउजियारे ॥ कृपानिवास आस पूरन सब जीवन प्रान हमारे ॥ अथ प्रीयांतरध्यान राग कमोद आडताल ॥ प्रीतम पर प्रीति परखल प्यारीदुरत भईरी । मनहुँ मराली मगन हृदय वर चाह मराल नईरी ॥ बूझत बन द्रुम बेलीहाहो प्राणनीआल कितगईरी । कृपानिवास श्री राम रसिक भये रसिकारा मईरी ॥ राग काफी जंगला मूलताल ॥ वो प्यारी मेनु दरसन दीजे । तुजबिना घड़ी छनिकलन परत है पलपल बलतनछीजे । मीन बिछुरज्यां सलेल सनेही कहो कहां लगिजीजै ।
Fresh English translation
Rāga Jangalā: ‘The two beloved ones sit together in rasa: beautiful dark Śyāma, lotus-petal eyes, the rasika whose form is radiant. Kṛpānivāsa says: the hope of our whole life and breath is fulfilled.’ Then the beloved's disappearance, Rāga Kamod, āḍatāla: ‘Her love for the beloved was tested, and the darling went far away. Like a female swan absorbed at heart, she longs anew for her chosen swan. She asks the forest, trees, and vines: “Ah, support of my life, where have you gone?” Kṛpānivāsa says: Śrī Rāma the rasika has become the very essence of this love, mother.’ Rāga Kāfī Jangalā, mūlatāla: ‘Beloved, grant me your darśan. Without you I find no rest for an instant; moment by moment my bodily strength wastes away. Like a fish separated from water, tell me, loving one, how long can I live?’ [the song continues on the next page].
