Fresh English translation
[The Jangalā song continues:] ‘Grant your sight and bless me. Beloved, apply kohl to these eyes. Awaken your lover—your own hand has bestowed this love. Let the mad world say what it will; drive false shame away. Kṛpānivāsa pleads: colorful Śrī Rāma, dye me in a new color.’ Khyāl: ‘Love has taken hold—who in the world can endure its separation? I will not heed what anyone says; the love placed upon my head must be borne. Kṛpānivāsa, your captive, calls to the traveling Rāma, rasika: come home.’ Kāfī Jangalā, mūlatāla, khyāl: ‘Love has joined itself to me; where can I go? My restless heart is held in your power, while you remain heedless. Through all eight watches my meditation is upon you. Rāma, without you I find no peace or pleasure. Kṛpānivāsa, sorrowful and mad with love, asks: why do you not reveal your darśan? You are my—’ [the song continues on the next page].
