Fresh English translation

Rāga Paraj, four-beat tāla: Rāma, filled with color and mastered by rasa, makes his beloved intoxicated with rasa in Rāma's pleasure-house. The ardor of love-play surges with Love's own movement, steeping every limb in savor. (1) Refrain. Girdle-bells, anklets, and bracelets ring aloud while the eyes grow proud with passion. Kṛpānivāsa says that the pleasure-loving beautiful couple shine together in their play. Rāga Bihāg, four-beat tāla: The beloved of her life has sounded an enchanting tāna for Rāma the rasika, winning him over. The seven notes, the three grāmas, and many rāginīs are filled with swooning sweetness and the essence of rasa. (1) At the sound, all the companions' ears are arrested; they stand exhausted, forgetting body and mind. Kṛpānivāsa's maid sings rasa there, singing the virtues of the beloved pair. (2) Now begins the līlā of disappearance in Kānhṛā, mūlatāla. Doha: ‘The three worlds are subject to you; honor is like a woman held in one's power—’ [the doha continues on the next page].
