Fresh English translation
[Sītā's dance continues:] Her waist-bells ring and the anklets pour out an extended jhanan-jhanan. (1) Refrain. The verse follows the motion of neck and limbs and the dancing daughters of the gods through long strings of sounded syllables. Kṛpānivāsa, in the companion's voice, makes those resonances the delight and treasure of the companions' hearts. Carcarī tāla. My fresh beloved Rāma dances. On the Sarayū bank, beneath the vaṭa tree, he wears a crown upon his head. (1) Refrain. His sash and garments flash; curls and fine cloth open with the movement. Kṛpānivāsa says: all the companions offer their lives to Sītā's lord in the rāsa. (2) Hamīr Kalyāṇ, Āḍā tāla. The married daughter of Janaka dances with the Lord of Avadh among her companions. Every ornament adorns the two bodies, filling the whole night with light—refrain. The companions' company shines on every side; the women sing continually and the strings sound. Kṛpānivāsa, as a companion, fixes loving eyes upon beloved and lover. (2)
