Fresh English translation
Rāga Aḍānā, mūla tāla. The companions' company enters the first fresh rasa. With hanging, turning, circling, bowing, and suddenly arrested motions—refrain—the couple moves with quick, curling steps, now pausing, now beating out the tāna. Kṛpānivāsa beholds Sītā and her lord looking upon one another, their arms joined, immersed in joyous rasa. (2) Byāla. Rāma and his beloved are the very essence of rasika sweetness. The two young ones rise in a surge, figured as a pair of swans descending into the lake of the mind from a grove of intoxicated elephants. (1) Moon-rayed faces, pearl garlands, betel, nectar, and a love-intoxicated gait: Kṛpānivāsa says that Rāma and his young beloved fulfill their playful desires. Rāga Pimāci, mūla tāla. The fresh, rasa-filled beloved stands within the rasa of the rāsa. Resting his arms upon the companions' shoulders, he flashes his arms, sometimes pauses, and draws them to his neck—[the song continues on the next page].
