The Ears Become Cups for Drinking the Story of Rama

Rama-katha is poured like a clear, fragrant drink at the close of the Manas. One listener longs for love of Rama's feet. Another seeks the still freedom of nirvana. Shiva invites both to approach the same inexhaustible stream.

The ears become twin cups. Devotional feeling steadies them, and the story enters not as information gathered from afar, but as nourishment taken into the living body. Every name, exile, meeting, battle, blessing, and act of grace becomes a draught received inwardly.

Bhakti and liberation no longer stand as rival destinations. The story of Rama answers the lover and the seeker of release because its deepest current carries both beyond self-enclosure. What matters is bhava, the sincere feeling with which one drinks. Across the seven Kandas, the Manas has prepared this final posture: not grasping the text from outside, but raising the listening heart like a vessel and allowing Rama's lila to become one's own sustenance.

Lift the cups of the ears with love, and the story itself becomes the water of devotion and freedom.
