After Brahma's revelation, Vashishtha considered yoga, sacrifice, sacred vows, and charity. Each discipline promises a fruit through sustained practice and faithful offering.
All that might be attained through them would be found within service to Rama, he understood. No other dharma could equal the privilege hidden inside the family priesthood.
The sage did not abandon the disciplines by dismissing them. He recognized their converging purpose. Yoga gathers the mind, sacrifice gives, vows steady, and charity loosens possession, yet all become fulfilled when the Supreme stands near enough to be served. The lowly office reveals itself as the summit because its object is Brahman wearing a human face.
When Brahman becomes the one served, a humble duty gathers the fruit of every celebrated discipline.
Read the passage from the Manas
-तब मैं हृदयँ बिचारा जोग जग्य ब्रत दान। जा कहुँ करिअ सो पैहउँ धर्म न एहि सम आन।।48।।
Then I reflected in my heart: yoga, yajna, vows, and charity, whatever fruit they yield, I shall gain through this service. No dharma equals it.
