North of Ayodhya, the Sarayu moves in a broad, deep current. Her water is clear enough to hold the sky without clouding it and deep enough to carry the silence of an ancient river.
Beautiful ghats descend toward the water in ordered steps. Along the banks, even the smallest trace of mud has disappeared, leaving clean approaches to the sacred stream.
The Doha pauses the jeweled city beside elemental clarity. Palaces may touch the sky and markets may overflow, but Ayodhya's northern edge rests upon water. The river gives depth to the kingdom's beauty, drawing the eye from bright architecture into a current that cannot be held. Stone steps meet flowing purity, and the city continually bows toward the Sarayu as though returning every splendor to its source.
At Ayodhya's northern edge, immaculate steps descend from the shining city into the clear depth of Sarayu.
