Countless qualities of Rama rise again in Bhushundi's memory, and joy repeatedly passes through him. The Vedas approach that glory with neti, neti, unable to contain His measureless strength, splendor, and sovereignty within speech.
The feet worshipped by Shiva and Brahma have shown exquisite tenderness to a crow. Bhushundi searches all he has heard and seen for anyone comparable to Raghupati and finds the sky empty of a second. Seekers, siddhas, liberated beings, renunciants, poets, scholars, warriors, ascetics, yogis, and knowers all stand within his vision.
No title carries them across without service to his Lord. The ranks of attainment fade, and one movement remains. Bhushundi bows: Ram namami, namami, namami. Three times the surrender sounds beneath the banyan, each bow deeper than the last. He remembers his own burden of fault and the purity received in refuge. The final teaching of the crow is no longer explanation. It is his whole being inclined toward the Imperishable One.
When every attainment falls silent, Bhushundi's three bows continue through the worlds like the pulse of devotion itself.
Read the passage from the Manas
Remembering the countless virtues of Rama, the wise Bhushundi rejoiced again and again. The Vedas sing His glory saying 'neti, neti' (not this, not this). His incomparable strength, splendor, and sovereignty are beyond all description. The feet of Raghurai, worshipped by Shiva and Brahma, yet He shows supreme tenderness and gentleness toward me. Such is His nature. O king of birds, I neither hear nor see anyone comparable to Raghupati. Spiritual seekers, perfected sages, liberated souls, renunciants, poets, scholars, and grateful ascetics, yogis, heroes, great tapasvis, the wise, those devoted to dharma, learned scholars: none can be saved without serving my Lord. I bow to Rama, I bow, I bow again. Even one as sinful as me becomes pure upon taking His refuge. I bow to the Imperishable One.
