All the arguments have been spoken. Cosmic identity, righteous policy, ancestral warning, and the signs of approaching destruction have filled the court, yet Ravana's will remains fixed.
Vibhishana comes close and clasps his brother's feet. He no longer speaks as a counselor arranging reasons before a throne. He calls Ravana dear brother and asks him to honor the affection that has made this warning possible. The plea is tender because the danger is no longer abstract.
Return Sita to Rama. No harm will come to you. Within those few words waits the last peaceful future still open to Lanka: Vaidehi restored, enmity ended, the ocean uncrossed by war, and Ravana spared. Vibhishana holds the king's feet while the entire unwounded possibility of his house rests upon one surrender.
At Ravana's feet, a younger brother holds open Lanka's last path away from war.
