Janaki has seen Hanuman's immense form and watched it return to humility. She has heard intelligence, courage, devotion, and restraint joined within the same servant.
Knowing him skilled in wisdom and strength, she gives the permission he requested. The beautiful fruits of the guarded grove may now answer his hunger.
Go, dear child, and eat them, but carry Raghupati's feet within your heart. The coming destruction of the garden is therefore not released as appetite alone. Sita places remembrance at the center of every movement Hanuman will make among the trees.
Hanuman enters Ravana's garden under Sita's blessing and with Rama's feet held within.
Read the passage from the Manas
देखि बुद्धि बल निपुन कपि कहेउ जानकीं जाहु। रघुपति चरन हृदयँ धरि तात मधुर फल खाहु।।17।।
Seeing Hanuman skilled in both wisdom and valour, Janaki said: Go now. Dear one, holding Raghupati's feet in your heart, eat the sweet fruits.
