Still recovering from Hanuman's blow, Lankini speaks to the servant whose arrival fulfills Brahma's ancient sign. The gate of the demon city becomes an unlikely place for the praise of holy company.
Place every happiness of heaven upon one side of a balance. Add even the joy of liberation, freedom from the whole wheel of becoming.
Together they do not equal the happiness contained in a single moment of satsang. The scale refuses equality. Lankini has met Rama's messenger for only an instant, yet that instant outweighs celestial pleasure and final release.
At Lanka's gate, one breath beside Rama's servant outweighs heaven and liberation together.
Read the passage from the Manas
तात स्वर्ग अपबर्ग सुख धरिअ तुला एक अंग। तूल न ताहि सकल मिलि जो सुख लव सतसंग।।4।।
O dear one, place all the joys of heaven and liberation on one side of the scale. Even together, they cannot equal the happiness found in a single moment of satsang.
