Shiva looks beyond the conquered field toward the celebration waiting in Kosala. When your coronation takes place in Ayodhya, he tells Rama, I will come.

The promise carries Lanka Kanda toward home. Bow, battlefield, and funeral fire will give way to throne, city, and the public return of the prince whose exile has reached its appointed end.

Shiva calls Rama the ocean of mercy and longs to witness the generous lila. The god who sees timeless Brahman still desires a place among those who will watch an earthly crown touch Rama's head. Knowledge of the infinite does not make the finite celebration unnecessary. It makes every gesture of the beloved form worthy of attendance. Shiva departs with the next meeting already held in his heart, joining victory in Lanka to joy soon to rise in Ayodhya.

Shiva leaves the battlefield with his heart already traveling toward the day Ayodhya places its crown upon Rama.

Lord, when Your coronation takes place in the city of Kosala, O ocean of mercy, I shall come to witness Your noble celebration.
