Shiva Shows Uma What Rama's Grace Has Made of Vibhishana

Shiva turns Uma's attention toward the brothers locked in combat. Could Vibhishana ever before have looked directly into Ravana's face, he asks. The question carries the memory of a court in which Ravana's anger sent his younger brother away.
Now that same Vibhishana fights like Time. He does not merely endure Ravana's presence or speak truth from a safe distance. He meets the king chest to chest within the violence of the final field.
Shiva names the cause with complete clarity: this is the power of Sri Raghuvira. Surrender has not changed the size of Vibhishana's body or erased Ravana's fearsome strength. It has changed the source from which the devotee stands. The one who could not face his brother alone now faces him as the place through which Rama's power acts, and former impossibility becomes visible grace.
Grace does not ask whether Vibhishana was once afraid; it reveals what he becomes when Raghuvira stands within his courage.
