The mutilated giant returns, and fear moves through the forest ranks. Then one cry rises above the sight of him: victory, victory, victory to the jewel of Raghu's line.
Bears and monkeys answer the Name with motion. They turn toward Kumbhakarna together, their voices joining in a roar large enough to break the isolation of terror.
At one moment they release everything held in their hands. Trees and mountain peaks travel toward the single body in swarms, until earth's rooted forms seem to have taken flight beneath Rama's praise. The rally does not begin with confidence in the size of their weapons. It begins by naming the Lord. Only then can the scattered army become one force again and cast a whole landscape against what frightened it.
Rama's name gathers the fleeing army, and the forest itself rises in their hands to answer Kumbhakarna.
