Malyavant Recognizes the Ancient Victor of Demons Standing Before Lanka

Malyavant looks beyond the prince encamped outside Lanka and recognizes the Lord moving through ancient ages. Hiranyaksha and his brother fell before that power. Mighty Madhu and Kaitabha, born near the beginning of worlds, were also slain.
The same Bhagavan has appeared now, not emptied of compassion by coming to war, but still the ocean of mercy. To the wicked he is Time itself, and to the forest of evil a fire that leaves no shelter for what has chosen destruction.
He is the treasury of virtues and the concentrated form of profound knowledge. Shiva and Brahma serve him. What meaning can enmity with such a one possess? Malyavant's question brings the cosmic past into Ravana's council. The siege beyond the walls is not one more royal contest, but the arrival of the power before which primordial darkness has already fallen.
Malyavant opens the night behind Rama, and the defeated demons of ancient worlds stand there as witnesses.

हिरन्याच्छ भ्राता सहित मधु कैटभ बलवान। जेहि मारे सोइ अवतरेउ कृपासिंधु भगवान।।48(क)।। कालरूप खल बन दहन गुनागार घनबोध। सिव बिरंचि जेहि सेवहिं तासों कवन बिरोध।।48(ख)।।
He who slew Hiranyaksha along with his brother, and the mighty Madhu and Kaitabha; that same ocean of compassion, the Lord, has now incarnated. He is Death itself to the wicked, a fire to the forest of evil, a storehouse of every virtue, the embodiment of supreme wisdom. Shiva and Brahma serve Him. What use is enmity with such a One?
