Ravana reaches for every name of the impossible barrier. The forest of waters. The treasury of waves. The deep, the sea, the lord of rivers, the immense keeper of water. Each title restores another aspect of the power that guarded Lanka.

Yet after every name returns the same unbearable question. Has it truly been bridged? Has this ocean, this ocean, this ocean been bound beneath the feet of monkeys and bears?

Repetition exposes what pride cannot absorb. The sea was not merely geography around Ravana's city. It was certainty made visible, a distance he believed no enemy could overcome. Now language circles the broken certainty, hoping one name will return it. Across the water that is no longer a defense, Rama's camp is already being raised.

Ravana repeats the sea's greatness while the bridge answers every name with stone.

Read the passage from the Manas

बांध्यो बननिधि नीरनिधि जलधि सिंधु बारीस। सत्य तोयनिधि कंपति उदधि पयोधि नदीस।।5।।

Has the ocean truly been bridged? The forest of waters, the treasury of waves, the sea, the deep, the lord of rivers: has it really been bound?
