High upon the mountain waits a cave made beautiful long before Rama's arrival. The shelter is not a hurried refuge found only when the clouds gather. The gods themselves prepared it in advance.

They knew that Rama, the treasure of compassion, would come to dwell there for some days. Stone, darkness, height, and hidden interior had therefore been readied to receive the prince who would not enter a city during exile.

The rains close around Pravarshana, but providence has already opened a dwelling within it. Rama and Lakshmana approach a place shaped for their brief residence before either brother set foot upon the mountain.

Before the rain begins, the gods have already made a beautiful hollow in the mountain for Rama.

Read the passage from the Manas

प्रथमहिं देवन्ह गिरि गुहा राखेउ रुचिर बनाइ। राम कृपानिधि कछु दिन बास करहिंगे आइ।।12।।

Long before, the devas had prepared a beautiful cave in the mountain, knowing that Rama Kripanidhi, the treasure of mercy, would come to dwell there for some days.
