The mothers remember the fearsome warriors none could withstand in battle. Maricha, Subahu, and their demonic allies rise in the imagination as terrible figures surrounding the forest sacrifice.
How did their tender Ram destroy such wicked strength? The question rests between knowledge of the deed and inability to reconcile it with the beautiful son lying before them.
Maternal sight does not deny divinity, but it keeps discovering the Lord through vulnerability and care. The arm that guarded the sages is still the arm a mother wishes to cover for sleep. Awe and tenderness meet beside the couch, each making the other deeper.
The conqueror of dreadful demons lies before his mothers as the tender child they still long to protect.
