The ministers receive a simple command: the lord of Avadh wishes to depart, and the news must be announced within the inner palace. Formal words cross the threshold into chambers still bright with wedding joy.

Brahmins, courtiers, ministers, and attendants hear what has been decided. Even Janaka, who gave the order, feels the force of it anew as the approaching separation becomes public truth.

Love overtakes every rank at once. Wisdom does not prevent sorrow, authority does not master it, and ceremony cannot conceal it. One message passes through the palace, yet it touches each heart according to its bond. The departure is not underway, but its shadow has already entered every room.

A single announcement travels through the palace, and wedding music gives way to the first silence of farewell.

The ministers were told: 'The lord of Avadh wishes to depart. Go and announce this within the inner palace.' Hearing this, the ministers, the Brahmins, the courtiers, and the king himself were all overcome by love.
