The chosen moment is dusk, when cattle return home and their hooves lift a fine veil of dust into the lowering light. Day and night meet without abruptness.
Brahmins tell King Videha that this pure cow-dust hour is the root of every auspicious blessing. All signs stand favourable around it.
The wedding does not begin under the hard brilliance of noon or the secrecy of midnight. It enters a tender threshold shaped by homecoming, cattle, earth, and softened sky. Dust becomes golden in the last light, and an ordinary village rhythm is revealed as the sacred passage through which two divine lives will be joined.
As the cattle come home through golden dust, Sita and Ram approach the hour of union.
