The women continue speaking among themselves, eyes filled with tears and bodies thrilling at the vision of Dasharatha's four sons. Their hope has become too beautiful to hold without divine assurance.
Shiva, destroyer of Tripura, will bring everything to fulfilment, they tell one another. Both kings are oceans of sacred merit, and such merit cannot have gathered without a fourfold fruit.
The prayer rests upon trust rather than knowledge of royal plans. Mithila's women see harmony before formal decision and give that intuition to Shiva. Their tears are not fear but devotion overflowing at the edge of possibility. What is still hidden in counsel has already begun to live in the city's heart.
Before any decree is spoken, Mithila entrusts its fourfold hope to Shiva.
