The women imagine the coming days. Overcome with paternal love, Janaka will call for Sita repeatedly as ceremonies and hospitality move between palace and pavilion.
Each summons will bring Ram and Lakshmana to receive or accompany her, the two brothers beautiful beyond ten million Kamadevas. Formal custom becomes a promise of repeated darshan.
Anticipation delights in recurrence. One sight would already fulfil the eyes, yet wedding rites will create reason after reason for the princes to return. Janakpur's women begin to love the procedures themselves because each step carries the beloved forms back into view. Time is no longer something they ask to pass; it is a vessel they hope will keep opening.
Every summons for Sita promises another arrival of the two brothers before Janakpur's waiting eyes.
