After the first embraces, Ram turns toward the larger human world that has travelled from Ayodhya. Citizens, relatives, clansmen, supplicants, ministers, and friends wait around him.

The supremely gracious Lord meets each person according to station and relationship. Humility gives every greeting its correct form without making affection generic.

One Ram becomes son, prince, kinsman, patron, sovereign, companion, and hope as each person approaches. Difference is not an obstacle to love; it gives love a particular gesture. No traveller disappears inside the crowd. The Lord who knew Sita's silent anguish also knows how to receive every member of the procession in the manner the heart can recognize.

Before Ram, no one remains merely part of the crowd; each is met within a distinct bond of love.
