Ram now places firmness beneath humility. If the brothers truly despised Brahmins, as Parashurama alleges, their lowered heads could not be explained by fear.
Across the whole world, what warrior possesses strength before which a Raghu would bow merely to save himself? The question is quiet, but it carries the undefeated memory of the solar house.
Ram's reverence must therefore be read correctly. A head bent before Brahminhood is not the submission of cowardice. It is strength choosing sacred order over self-display. Fear and honour may produce the same outer gesture, but their inward movements are opposite. Parashurama has mistaken voluntary respect for weakness, and Ram gently removes that misunderstanding.
The head bows, not because the axe is feared, but because the sacred thread is honoured.

जौं हम निदरहिं बिप्र बदि सत्य सुनहु भृगुनाथ। तौ अस को जग सुभटु जेहि भय बस नावहिं माथ।।283।।
If we truly despise Brahmins as You claim, then hear this truth, O Lord of the Bhrigus: Who is that warrior in all the world before whose might we would bow our heads in fear?
