The city children remain close under the innocent pretext of play. Love has already bound them to the visiting princes, and formal distance cannot survive their delight.
They touch Ram's captivating form, perhaps a hand, garment, bow, or arm, receiving through childhood freedom what assembled kings will watch from appointed platforms.
Their bodies thrill and hearts overflow. Again and again they look at both brothers, unable to turn one completed glance into a final one. Darshan becomes tactile, playful, and immediate because the Lord allows affection to cross every boundary of rank.
Mithila's children reach out in play and touch the form before which sages bow.

सब सिसु एहि मिस प्रेमबस परसि मनोहर गात। तन पुलकहिं अति हरषु हियँ देखि देखि दोउ भ्रात।।224।।
All the children, on the pretext of play and bound by love, touched His captivating form. Their bodies thrilled with delight and their hearts overflowed with joy, gazing again and again at the two brothers.
