The Katha pauses upon the danger of a brilliant enemy. Isolation and apparent weakness do not make such an adversary small, and the wise never dismiss one merely because armies, kingdom, or body have been taken away.
Rahu remains only a severed head, yet even now he reaches the sun and moon and covers their light with anguish. What seems incomplete can still strike the highest brilliance when time and position align.
Pratapbhanu conquered the world and destroyed Kalketu's family, but the surviving intelligence of two enemies has found one hidden moment. The greater sun of royal power is about to be eclipsed by what it regarded as defeated.
A bodiless shadow reaches the sun, and a conquered enemy reaches the emperor.

रिपु तेजसी अकेल अपि लघु करि गनिअ न ताहु। अजहुँ देत दुख रबि ससिहि सिर अवसेषित राहु।।170।।
A brilliant enemy, even if alone, should never be dismissed as small. To this day, Rahu, with only his head remaining, causes anguish to the sun and the moon.
